KAMBLY AND CARREFOUR CONNECT USING TRACE ONE’S CATALOGIC ELECTRONIC CATALOGUE
Company
Located in the heart of Switzerland’s fertile Emmental valley, three generations of the Kambly family have been producing Switzerland’s – and one of Europe’s - favorite biscuits for more than a century.
Challenge
When Carrefour asked Kambly to computerize its product catalogue, Kambly went looking for a product that could help.
Kambly, with some 30 products in its catalogue, needed a way not just to dematerialize its catalogue, but to respond quickly and professionally to promotional requirements of Carrefour.
Kambly needed a product that was every bit as dedicated to quality as their biscuits. Kambly also needed a product that could become operational as quickly as possible, because they had been managing their product databases and retailer exchanges electronically for years using EDI, and they needed to waste no time importing product information.
Solution
They found their product in Catalogic PIM GDS.
Catalogic is an electronic catalogue tool that integrates the GS1 standard. Manufacturers can use it to respond to the various requirements from retailers for both product data and promotional data.
Advantages of the Catalogic approach include:
- Rapid export from private databases (ERP, Microsoft Access, Excel!) to the catalogue
- Strong hotline support – particularly important to this SMB without a large dedicated IT team
- Not a generalized tool – specifically designed and developed to work as an electronic catalogue
RESULTS
- Reduced out of stocks, and disputes resulting from faulty product information.
- High information quality throughout the supply chain.
- Reduced human error, thus faster.
- Better relations with the retailer because more promotional data, and no out of stocks on promoted items.
