A new CLP update: publication of the 12th ATP

The 12^th ATP of CLP

On March 12^th 2019, Regulation (EU) 2019/521 was published. It consists in the 12^th ATP, amending the CLP regulation (1272/2008).

The 12^th ATP aligns the CLP criteria with the 6^th and 7^th editions of the UN GHS. More specifically, it introduces the new class of desensibilised explosives, and a new category of pyrophoric gases. It also intriduces a new 1% consideration threshold for components classified as STOT SE 3 and as toxic via aspiration for what concerns the hazard calculation of mixtures.

The 12^th ATP further clarifies when it is appropriate to assign statement EUH208 to substances with specific concentration limits (SCL).
Lastly, the 12^th ATP amends the text of some H and P statements.

The 12^th ATP will come into force on October 17th 2020, but it allows voluntary adoption prior to this deadline.
