EFSA Modifies Existing Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticides Cyprodinil in Various Berry Fruits

On March 23, 2021, the European Food Safety Authority published regulation “Modification of the existing maximum residue levels for Cyprodinil in Blueberries, Cranberries, Currants and Gooseberries” in accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005.

The document highlights the following information for immediate implementation:

  • Various analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of cyprodinil on the specified fruit berries at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg.
  • Use levels of cyprodinil on blueberries, cranberries, currants and gooseberries and toxicological study reports concludes no significant health risks associated in long term exposure were identified.
  • The available residue trials were sufficient to derive MRL of 8 mg/kg for blueberries, cranberries, currants and gooseberries.

The regulation is effective from March 23, 2021.
