On November 24, 2020, the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China published the consultation “National Food Safety Standard Maximum Residue Limits For 75 Pesticides in Food”. The standard specifies the use of 75 pesticides such as 2,4-D-dimethylamine as maximum residue limits. The standard applies to limited quantities of food.
The scope of the draft document is the following:
Identify the maximum concentration of pesticides legally permitted inside or on the surface of food or agricultural products, expressed in milligrams of pesticide residues per kilogram of food or agricultural products.
Provide the Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI) of a substance without producing detectable estimates of health hazards, expressed as per kg of body weight (mg/kg bw)
For a pesticide, if the test method covers the food category with the maximum residual limit, it is marked in the standard text “According to.”
For a pesticide, if there is no food category that covers the maximum residual limit, but there are other food classification testing methods, verified to meet the requirements, in the standard text with word “Reference” as the detection method.
Various pesticides are listed out along with the ADI, Food Categories and MRL’s are set out in the tabulated form.
Applications on Agro-Food categories such as Grains, Vegetables, Fruits, Tea’s and Medicinal plants such as Lily (dry) have been indicated for various pesticides.
