EU Publishes Import tolerances for Azoxystrobin in Mangoes and Oil palm fruits

On August 27th, 2021, the European Food Safety Authority assessed the document “Predefine import tolerances for azoxystrobin in mangoes and oil palm fruits” in accordance with the Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005.

The scope of the assessment report indicates the following key points:

  • Set import tolerance limits for the fruits imported from Brazil and Colombia;
  • The data supports the maximum residue level (MRL) proposed for mangoes and oil palm fruits;
  • The proposed MRL’s for Mangoes is 4 mg/kg (Brazilian GAP) and Oil palm fruits is 0.03 mg/kg (Columbian GAP);
  • Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of azoxystrobin on the commodities limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg;
  • Based on the risk assessment results, longterm intake of residues resulting from the uses of azoxystrobin is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health.
