On August 27th, 2021, the European Food Safety Authority assessed the document “Predefine import tolerances for azoxystrobin in mangoes and oil palm fruits” in accordance with the Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005.
The scope of the assessment report indicates the following key points:
- Set import tolerance limits for the fruits imported from Brazil and Colombia;
- The data supports the maximum residue level (MRL) proposed for mangoes and oil palm fruits;
- The proposed MRL’s for Mangoes is 4 mg/kg (Brazilian GAP) and Oil palm fruits is 0.03 mg/kg (Columbian GAP);
- Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of azoxystrobin on the commodities limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg;
- Based on the risk assessment results, long‐term intake of residues resulting from the uses of azoxystrobin is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health.
