Australia Issues Import Conditions for Fresh Chilli Fruit from Fiji

chilisOn April 1st, 2024, the Australian Government-Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, published a document on the “Import Conditions for Fresh Chilli Fruit Imported from Fiji” except the Island of Rotuma.

The notice highlights the following key points:

  • Allows the permit of three varieties of Chilli fruit namely- bird’s eye, hot rod, and red fire;
  • Import conditions procedures are outlined as per biosecurity import requirements for fresh Capsicum spp. fruit;
  • Applicable for the following countries Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, and Vanuatu;
  • A valid import permit is required and must be issued by the department before the export;
  • Applies to Importers of fresh horticulture produce, brokers, and Pathway Operations Cargo - Assessments.

The import requirements are effective from April 1st, 2024.
