On January 12, 2018, The Chilean Ministry of Health released an amendment to the Resolution 860 approving the Technical Standard No. 191 on Nutritional Guidelines for declaring Healthy Food Properties (Claims). The Resolution 1671 was published in the National Congress Library of Chile and it will enter into force on January 26 of 2018.

The amendment changes some statements on the “Specific Conditions” to use claims in food products associated with:

  1. A specific amount of Lactobacillus spp., Bifid bacterium spp. and other specific Bacillus, intestinal flora and/or intestinal transit and /or immunity.
  2. Phytoesteroles and phytoestanoles and cardiovascular disease
