On April 9, 2025, the European Union (EU) authorized the “Use of Vitamin D2 mushroom powder derived as a novel food” per Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/691 amending Implementing Regulation (EU) 2017/2470.

- Vitamin D2 mushroom powder is authorised as a novel food under Regulation (EU) 2015/2283;
- Approved for use in specific foods and supplements, excluding those for infants and young children, such products must carry a warning label;
