European Union (EU) Latest Food Recalls

On January 2 and 8, 2019, the European Commission notified new food safety risks in the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) portal.

Part of the products categories involved are the following:

  • Crustaceans and products thereof, as Salmonella enterica contaminated prawns in mango sauce from Germany. Notification link can be found here;
  • Nuts, nut products and seeds, as ochratoxin A was revealed in roasted salted pistachios from unknown origin, packaged in Denmark. Notification link can be found here;
  • Fish and fish products, as mercury (1.5 mg/kg - ppm) was found as a contaminant in frozen blue shark slices (Prionace glauca) from Spain. Notification link can be found here;
  • Feed material, as Salmonella enterica was present in soybean meal from Italy. Notification link can be found here.
