FDA Protects Consumers Against Unlawful Ingredients in Dietary Supplements

On April 16, 2019, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the launch of a new tool against unsafe and inappropriately labeled dietary supplement products.
Nowadays, 170 million Americans rely on dietary supplements as healthy products to improve or maintain good habits. However, the FDA has already put strong effort to strengthen the regulatory action against unlawful claims in dietary supplements labels that are far from ensuring the well-manufacturing and safety of the product.
In order to improve the protection of consumers, the American agency has therefore developed the Dietary Supplement Ingredient Advisory List that “[improves] our ability to inform and educate people in determining which ingredients might not be lawfully included in dietary supplements.”
