FSANZ Publishes Standard on Permitted Novel foods

Infant formulaOn August 30th, 2023, the Federal Register of Legislation published a standard on the "Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code Schedule 25 Permitted novel foods” under the Food Standards Australia New Zealand Act 1991.

The scope of the standard enlists the following points:

  • The standard provides references to substances that are used as novel foods;
  • Rapeseed protein isolate is not allowed in infant formula products and food for infants;
  • To comply with the specifications for rapeseed protein isolate listed in section S3-39(A).

The consolidated regulation is effective from July 19th, 2023.
