Korea Issues Partial Amendment of Food Traceability Management Standards

On January 4th, 2024, the Ministry of Food, Drug, and Safety issued a draft regulation on the “Partial Amendment of Food Traceability Management Standards”  per Article 46 of the Administrative Procedure Act.

The document stipulates key points for consideration:

• Improvement in the timing of linkage of food information within 2 days of warehousing and shipping;
• Registrant for the livestock traceability management system must enter the information of products within 5 days;
• The information linkage period is extended from 2 to 5 days to improve the compliance rate and increase the effectiveness of the traceability system;
• Information linkage was not applicable for exporting all manufactured products overseas;
• The regulation on the partial export of products overseas shall be revised to recognize as an exception to the information linkage.
