On May 1st, 2024, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority updated the “Requirements and conditions for the clearance of organic food products”.
The summary of the major updates is as follows:
- Legal documents to assure clearance of Organic Products Certificates including Organic food product, Organic production unit’s and for the Organic food product export;
- Import Ban products are not allowed and shall not be handled manually or exposed to ionizing radiation;
- The label shall explicitly carry the Name, Number and Organic product Logo approved by the Country of Origin;
- The Manufacturer shall use approved Organic materials for cleaning the packaged containers and ensure the products are transported as per the standard requirement;
- The product must be registered in the Authority’s electronic system for imported food and must meet the requirements of the approved technical regulations.
