Thailand Proposes to Develop Regulatory Framework on Alternative Plant-based Protein

On May 23^rd, 2024, the Ministry of Public Health opens consultation on “Proposal to develop Regulations and Regulatory measures for Alternative Protein Foods, Plant Protein group”.

The draft summarizes the following points:

• The Protein alternative available in the market involves products from Micro-organisms, Insects, Cultured meat, and Plant-based products;
• Thailand lacks specific guidelines for monitoring and controlling the security of alternative protein sources;
• The study aims on the current Production, Import and Regulations governing alternative protein food products.

Last public comments are valid until June 7^th,2024.
