UK Publishes the Meat Preparations (Wales) Regulations 2024

eu-proposes-import-tolerances-for-the-pesticide-deltamethrin (2)On January 9th, 2024, the Minister for Rural Affairs and North Wales, and Trefnydd, issued a regulation on “The Meat Preparations (Amendment and Transitory Modification) Regulation 2024 per Schedule 2 of the Trade in Animals and Related Products (Wales) Regulations 2011.

The document summarizes the following:

  • The regulation amends the Meat Preparations (Amendment and Transitory Modification) (Wales) (EU Exit) Regulations 2021;
  • The provision to extend the temporary suspension of the requirement for meat preparations to be deep frozen;
  • To comply with the extended end date of the “transitional staging period” per EU2017/625;
  • The extension is valid until April 29, 2024;
  • The Welsh Ministers’ Code of Practice is considered instead of Regulatory Impact Assessments due to the costs and benefits of complying with these Regulations.

The amendment shall enter into force on January 30, 2024.
