On December 06th, 2021, the U.S Federal Register published a regulation by the U.S environmental protection agency on “Isoprothiolane; Pesticide Tolerances”.

The document summarizes the following:

  • The regulation establishes tolerances for residues of Isoprothiolane in or on banana; rice, bran; rice, husked; and rice, polished rice;
  • Tolerance in or on banana at 0.9 ppm; rice, bran, at 15 ppm; rice, husked, at 6 ppm; and rice, polished rice at 1.5 ppm;
  • The data indicates the safety of infants and children would be protected based on a Toxicological profile and dietary exposure;
  • Short‐term and long‐term intake of residues resulting from the use of tolerance on these food products is unlikely to pose a health risk to consumers.

The regulation is effective from December 06th, 2021.
