Vit B6On May 17, 2023, the European Food Safety Authority committee on the Nutrition, Novel Foods and Food Allergens (NDA) published the “Scientific opinions on the tolerable upper intake level for vitamin B6” per Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 1925/2006.

The document summarizes the following points:

  • An Upper Limit (UL) of 12 mg/day is established for vitamin B6 for adults;
  • A lowest‐observed‐effect‐level (LOAEL) could not be established based on human data;
  • ULs for infants and children are derived at 2-2.5 mg/day (4-11months), 3.2–4.5 mg/day (1-6 years), etc.;
  • The data indicates EU populations are unlikely to exceed ULs;
  • Regular users of food supplements containing high doses (Vit. B6) are likely to exceed the ULs.
