Scotland Publishes Meat Preparations (Import Conditions) Amendment Regulations 2024

eu-proposes-import-tolerances-for-the-pesticide-deltamethrin (5) (1)On March 13th, 2024, The National Archives of the United Kingdom published a regulation made by the Scottish Ministers on “Meat Preparations (Import Conditions) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2024” per schedule 2 of the Trade in Animals and Related Products Regulations 2012.

The scope of the document highlights the following:

  • The regulation amends Decision 2000/572/EC on animal and public health and veterinary certification conditions for imports of meat preparations from third countries;
  • To remove the import condition that meat preparations from third countries have been deep-frozen at the production plant or plants of origin;
  • The regulation revokes other instruments as follows:
    - Regulation 6(4) of the Animals, Food and Feed (EU Exit) (Scotland) (Amendment) Regulations 2020;
    - The Meat Preparations (Import Conditions) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2021, etc. and more. 

The regulation is effective from April 30, 2024.
